this one is "super flat monogram" by murakami san for LV
this one is "trembeled blossoms" by james jean for PRADA
this VS thing is only judged by me...its my opinion....so dont get angry or offended by it

FIRST ROUND
1. WHO DID IT FIRST? (did it as in art+brand collabo video)
MURAKAMI FOR LV so you win. in a way, prada u copied LV!!!!!!!!!!! not so new eh?
2. WHOS IS COOLER *juding video wise
JAMES JEAN FOR PRADA. because its 2D +3D ...and the sound track is much more sophisticated
and while LV one is so "LOUIS VUITTON LOGO IN UR FACE" while prada is more subtle....
although, the LV one was more...put to gether, and PRADA one was more experimental
(the 3D in it somehow looked so 90's..... but i guess with the budget and uh i guess
animation world is not so up to date than i thought it would be by now.)
3. WHICH ONE TOUCHES THE SHOPPERS MIND?
JAMES JEAN FOR PRADA. it makes me, personally want to shop more it touches shoppers mind...
like every girls dream fantasy.... like more mystical...and beautiful
4. WHICH COLLABO PRODUCTS ARE CUTER?
i would have to say MURAKAMI FOR LV.... cos i dont like james jean's drawings on the clothes
and i personally dont like james jean's illustrations.....the video was good but overall collabo
for the clothes/bag i really dont like it.
5. WHICH ARTIST IS MORE LIKED BY DAUL *juding their art work wise

eh..... i like james jean's illustration and the concept of the video. I also love murakami.
In terms of the 3d....it looks unfinished. The texturing wasn't done very well and neither was the modeling. I only know because i work in the motion graphics world where i see a lot of 3d cg work. I can see in the animation that some of it was done with motion capture so the movement is pretty good. The modeling looked amateur though as did the lighting and texturing.
Commercial 3D animation is light years ahead of what we're looking at here. Like you said, it probably had to do with the budget of hiring skilled 3D artists.

i like murakami because he doesn't give a shit about sophistication/high culture/what have you, but i don't think he is that much of a remarkable artist for his skills or depth. i recently saw him speak at his la exhibit. he is what he is, and that is the only thing that he is. that is probably the most remarkable thing about him.
i like what i have seen from james jean. his new prada commercial looks interesting.
jj is not tryin to be high art. murakami is and always fails, except for the bukakke shit and early stuff sperm sculptures etc. he is only a fake aesthetic moneymaking machine now. quite sad and pathetic. My friend worked in his studio in bk, for low wage and if you were late/absent you would get fined. WTF
yeah i agree with you all!!! and thank u winnie for ur comment....! regarding murakami or james jean i feel that both are quite obviousluy commerical artists... and i dont like murakamis everything but his earlier work is quite cool i think. its just like what you said he is what he is
